On 11th July 2015, an Idea that was casually hatched by a few KFC players during the usual Thursdays Frisbee pick-up games quickly developed into a congregation of Kenya's budding Ultimate community at the Lakeside City of Kisumu to attend the inaugural Lake Victoria Ultimate Grass Tournament (say: LaVGUT).
The tournament was a huge success, with 6 competing teams (Maseno University Frisbee Club, One Acre Fund - Bungoma, Chemelil Frisbee Club, Nairobi Ultimate, Kisumu Spinners and Kisumu Sitatungas), 2 highschool teams (Kibos and Lions High schools) and 1 local team (Young Kisumu Frisbee Club). With the competing teams split into two pools, Nairobi Ultimate topped pool A which saw them encounter pool B winners Kisumu Spinners, culminating into a thrilling seesaw final match up that ended 10:8 in favour of Nairobi Ultimate. The tournament outcomes were as follows: Pool A Pool B Nairobi Ultimate vs Kisumu Sitatungas = [10:1] Kisumu Spinners vs Chemelil FC = [11:6] Kisumu Sitatungas vs Maseno University = [2:9] Kisumu Spinners vs One Acre Fund = [8:3] Nairobi Ultimate vs Maseno University = [8:5] One Acre Fund vs Chemelil FC = [10:2] Semis 1 Semis 2 One Acre Fund vs Nairobi = [4:8] Kisumu Spinners vs Maseno University = [10:2] Third place play: Maseno University vs One Acre Fund = [8:6] Fifth place play: Kisumu Sitatungas vs Chemelil FC =[9:1] Finals Nairobi Ultimate vs Kisumu Spinners = [10:8]
